June 2, 2015, marks the first anniversary of paying for my Squarespace site and purchasing my domain for Zaakirah Nayyar. Even though I began blogging on Tumblr about my travels during my 2011 trip to Ghana, West Africa for a volunteer project with Operation Crossroads Africa that lasted 7 weeks, this is the official start. I will be eventually resurfacing those blog posts here.

It has been quite a year and it’s only the beginning of my blogging journey. Although I could have been better about the consistency of posting, it is one of my goals to improve that. I have tons of stories, experiences, tips and tricks to share with you, it’s just that sometimes life gets in the way.

I’ve managed an average of three social media clients this past year. It has been the most time consuming, but it is an honor to help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow their social media platforms. You can learn more about that here.

This upcoming year, I look forward to more collaborations and sponsorships.

This past year I was blessed to have sponsorships with:

Groupon Coupons

Code Red Flag

Within this past year, I have blogged about my new experiences in:

Memphis, Tennessee

Nashville, Tennessee

Miami, Florida

This year I was honored to be a guest blogger/interviewee on the following blogs:

Quirky Brown Love

Tiffany Eat World

Be F.E.A.R.C.E.

I look forward to sharing more tips, tricks, and travel experiences. I also hope to initiate having more guest bloggers on my own site. There are so many amazing young people blogging about their travel experiences and getting their story out there. I would love to keep the inspiration flowing with such posts!

It took a whole year, but, since my background is in photography, I do have a photography section on here that I need to better utilize. A couple of things that will be added to the photography page are a peek into my inventory, access to a Photography 101 E-Course, and tips and tricks for travel photography.

Last but not least, I’ve also gained a few email subscribers and new readers along the way.

So, thank you for a successful first year. It’s not much, but it’s a small win for me! It’s not easy, but she did that! Cheers to much more!
