As of May 2020, I have been professionally photographing for 10 years.
While we are all quarantined, now is the best time, if you have time, to freshen up on your skills.

Here Are 5 Ways You Can Take Better Photos Right Now!

Use Natural Light  – The Sun is Your Filter

Use a plain colored background (white or off white is ideal) or if sunshine is available, use that instead. Keep it simple because less is more.

Rule of Thirds – A Popular Technique

This is a photography technique you probably already use. You see how Instagram is a 3×3 grid, right? Well so is the viewfinder in a camera. Don’t take photos in the middle of the frame (photograph to the left or right instead).

Master Your Device – Use What You Have

Know what other capabilities your camera (or phone) has aside from auto mode. This is one of the first lessons I was taught as a beginner photographer.

Smize

Smile with your eyes. Remember Tyra Banks and America’s Next Top Models? It’s your turn to get in front of the camera and be the mode. No duck lips or showing teeth but look confident and at the camera through your eyes. A tip to achieve this is by having a happy thought.

Be Careful of Your Background

Get rid of clutter in your background anything that could possibly be sticking out of your head or cause a leading eye to wander away from what you want them to look at whether that is you or your subject.
